Vijay Kumar Singh as Acting DGP for Madhya Pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday appointed senior IPS officer Vijay Kumar Singh as the Acting Director General of Police (DGP) of the poll-bound state.

Current DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla has proceeded on six weeks' leave on account of a heart-related ailment, official sources said. Hence the government, with the approval of the Election Commission appointed Singh as acting DGP till further orders, sources added.

Singh, a 1984-batch officer, will continue to hold his existing post as chairman of the MP Police Housing Corporation. Madhya Pradesh will go to the polls on November 28.
