Yellen focused on banking confidence, won't speculate on regulatory changes

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jane Yellen said on Tuesday she is currently focused on restoring the confidence of bank depositors, but will evaluate banking regulations to determine whether adjustments are needed to address the latest financial crisis.

"I don't want to speculate at this point on what those adjustments might be," she told an American Bankers Association conference in Washington. "What I'm focused on is stabilizing our system and restoring the confidence of depositors."

She added that such actions include further potential interventions if a smaller bank experiences difficulties similar to those of the failed Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank.
