A judicial officer was elevated as an additional judge while one judge each from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were transferred to the Madras High Court on Thursday. According to a notification issued by the Department of Justice in the Law Ministry, Periyasamy Vadamalai, a judicial officer was appointed as an additional judge of the Madras High Court for a period of two years.
His name was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in January.
Additional judges are usually appointed for a period of two years before being elevated as judges or what is popularly called as ''permanent judges.'' According to another notification, Justice Battu Devanand of Andhra Pradesh High Court and Justice Devaraju Nagarjun of Telangana High Court have been transferred to the Madras High Court.
