Road crash in UP leaves two dead

A car hit a divider on the Agra-Lucknow expressway, killing two members of a family, police said on Wednesday.

The accident took place on Tuesday evening when a family of four was going to Lucknow from Ghaziabad, Saifai police station in-charge Yashwant Singh said.

While Usha Kiran (57), posted in Delhi as a food safety officer, died on the spot, her mother Shanti Devi (74) succumbed to injuries in a hospital later, the SHO said.

Her father and brother were injured in the accident and were admitted to Saifai medical college hospital from where their relatives shifted them to a private hospital in Ghaziabad later in the night.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
