Worker charred to death in fire at fabrication unit in Raipur

A worker was charred to death after a fire broke out at a fabrication unit office in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur on Wednesday, police said.

The blaze erupted in the morning at the office of a company, which manufactures over-bridge fabrication structures, in Urla industrial area, a police official said.

Vikas Chandrakar (25), the office boy, suffered from serious burns in the incident and died, he said.

After being alerted, a team from Urla police station rushed to the spot. The blaze was brought under control with the help of fire tenders, the official said.

The police suspect that an electric short-circuit could have triggered the fire, but the exact cause was yet to be ascertained.
