Punjab Police on Friday said that they have arrested three people in connection with the killing of a man in Amritsar and recovered a pistol from their possession. The accused have been identified as Gurmej Singh of Jandiala, Rajwinder Singh alias Rep and Arshdeep Singh from Nawapind, a police statement said here.

Police have also named Gurkaranveer Singh, an associate of the accused, in the case for providing shelter and logistic support to the three shooters. He is absconding.

Jarnail Singh was shot dead by four unidentified persons at Sathiala village in Amritsar last month. The assailants had pumped around 20 bullets into the victim.

The development came ten days after Punjab Police arrested Gurveer Singh alias Guri, a shooter of the Bambiha gang, who allegedly hatched a conspiracy to kill Jarnail. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav Friday said that based on inputs, Amritsar police have arrested accused Gurmej, who ferried four shooters to the crime spot in a car after the urder and later dropped them at different places.

He also provided shelter and logistical assistance to all shooters. A .32 bore pistol and a car were recovered from his possession, he said.

The DGP said that following the trail of suspected accused persons, the police teams then arrested Rajwinder Singh and Arshdeep Singh, who also provided harbour to the shooters at their homes. The duo with the help of Gurkaranveer dropped shooters at different places using a jeep, which has also been recovered, police said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural) Satinder Singh said that police teams are on a manhunt to arrest four more shooters involved in the killing and also trying to trace Gurkaranveer.

A case was registered under various provisions of the IPC including murder and the Arms Act at Beas Police Station.
