The owner of a fast food outlet was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Nilambar-Pitambar police station area of Jharkhand's Palamu district on Monday, police said.
Chotu Kumar, aged 22 years, was serving customers when the accused fired at him at the main market, police added. Kumar, who sustained bullet wounds in his chest and stomach, died on the spot.
The reason was yet to be ascertained, police said, adding that the killers fled the scene after the crime.
Soon after the incident, shops downed their shutters in protest against the murder. Lesligunj Sub-Divisional Police Officer Alok Kumar Tuti told PTI that a hunt was on to arrest the perpetrators.
The body has been sent to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem, he said.
