UK's Hunt: fall in inflation in August shows government plan is working

British finance minister Jeremy Hunt said on Wednesday data showing an unexpected fall in inflation in August showed that the government's plan to deal with inflation was working.

"Today's news shows the plan to deal with inflation is working - plain and simple," Hunt said in a statement.

"But it is still too high which is why it is all the more important to stick to our plan to halve it so we can ease the pressure on families and businesses."
