Russian peacekeepers continuing work in Nagorno-Karabakh - Russian defence ministry

Russian peacekeepers are continuing to carry out their work in Nagorno-Karabakh, providing all possible assistance to civilians and maintaining close contact with all parties, Russia's defence ministry said on Wednesday.

At the peacekeepers' main base, there are currently 2,261 civilians, of whom 1,049 are children, the ministry said.

Ethnic Armenians in Azerbaijan's breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to a Russian proposal for a ceasefire on Wednesday, 24 hours after Azerbaijan began an offensive to take control of the enclave that killed dozens and injured hundreds.
