Russia repeats demand that Ukraine give up its NATO aspirations

Ukraine must give up its plans to join the NATO military alliance as one of the preconditions for ending the conflict with Russia, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday.

Lavrov told a news conference that he believed that the West and not Ukraine would decide the conditions for ending the war, but said he did not think the West was interested in starting peace talks at the moment.
