In a tragic turn of events, four security personnel deployed for Lok Sabha elections in Bihar's Rohtas district have died due to heatstroke over the past week, according to an official statement on Saturday.

Leading the fatalities were A Nikiye Sumi and Pitlohi Losho from Nagaland's Indian Reserve Battalion, and Subhash Prasad Singh, Devnath Ram, and Samiullah from Bihar Police, disclosed DIG Naveen Chandra Jha.

The state battle against extreme heatwave conditions, exacerbated by temperatures soaring beyond 43 degrees Celsius, has claimed the lives of 10 polling personnel and four citizens since Thursday.
