BSF Ensures Safe Voting Amid Unique Geography in Punjab

A Border Security Force (BSF) unit was assigned to ferry voters from Kalu Wala village, Punjab, to their polling station. The village, surrounded by the Sutlej River and the India-Pakistan border, saw voters transported via boats to cast their ballots during the Lok Sabha elections.

A unit of the Border Security Force (BSF) was deployed to facilitate the safe and convenient transport of voters from Kalu Wala village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district. The village, uniquely surrounded by the Sutlej River on three sides and the India-Pakistan border on the fourth, posed logistical challenges for voters.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab highlighted the unique geography in a post on X, noting the special arrangements made to ensure voters could reach their polling station. 'Surrounded by the river Sutlej on three sides and an international border on the fourth, the booth in Kalu Wala is very unique. A BSF unit was deployed to safely and conveniently ferry voters from the village to their polling station,' read the post.

On Saturday, the BSF successfully ferried voters by boat, allowing them to participate in the Lok Sabha elections, with all 13 seats in Punjab up for grabs.
