West Bengal CID detectives are zeroing in on the source of the tools used in the grisly murder of Bangladeshi MP Anwarul Azim Anar, a senior officer revealed on Saturday.

Anar's mutilated remains were discovered in a posh flat in New Town near Kolkata. The suspect, a butcher by trade, allegedly dismembered Anar's body into 80 pieces, blending them with turmeric before disposing of them at various locations, including a canal.

"We are still searching for body parts and have found that multiple tools, primarily choppers, were used. These were bought from local shops, and we are tracking them down," the officer told PTI. CID has retrieved pieces of flesh and hair from the septic tank of the New Town flat and intends to match them with DNA from Anar's daughter, who is expected in the city next week.

The investigation commenced after Gopal Biswas, a north Kolkata resident and acquaintance of Anar, reported him missing on May 18. Anar had come to Kolkata for medical treatment on May 12 and had been staying at Biswas's house. Biswas filed the complaint after Anar went incommunicado on May 17.
