U.S. withdrawal from Syria could damage fight against IS

The United States' abrupt change of course on Syria is surprising and risks damaging the fight against Islamic State, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Thursday after the U.S. decided to withdraw from Syria.

"IS has been pushed back but the threat is not yet over. There is a danger that the consequences of this decision will damage the fight against IS and jeopardise the successes already achieved," said Maas.
