YouTuber Alex Choi, renowned for his daring car shenanigans, is now grappling with federal charges following a controversial video stunt involving a helicopter and a Lamborghini. The Department of Justice announced Thursday that Choi, aged 24, is accused of directing a video where fireworks were launched from a helicopter, targeting a speeding Lamborghini below.

The incident, which took place last July, saw Choi allegedly pressing a 'fire missiles' button, while two women aboard the helicopter fired the fireworks at the moving sports car in a desert landscape. The video, titled 'Destroying a Lamborghini with Fireworks,' was posted online but has since been removed.

Authorities believe the footage was shot at the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed, situated approximately 60 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Choi, who boasts over a million followers on Instagram and YouTube, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Department of Justice spokesperson confirmed that Choi appeared in court on Thursday and was released on a $50,000 bond. His arraignment is set for July 2, and no plea was entered at that time.
