The West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has decided to revisit a flat in the New Town area near Kolkata to gather more evidence in the ongoing probe into the murder of Bangladeshi MP Anwarul Azim Anar. A senior officer disclosed this information on Saturday.

CID officers are planning to perform DNA tests on blood traces collected earlier from the flat, where Anar was last seen on May 12, and compare the results with the DNA of his daughter, who is expected to arrive in Kolkata soon. 'Collecting samples from the flat will definitely help us proceed forward with the investigation. We will try to collect and send them for tests... We are planning to conduct a DNA test of the samples and then match the results with his daughter,' the CID officer told PTI.

The decision follows unsuccessful attempts to locate Anar's body parts during previous search operations. The CID officer also mentioned that efforts are ongoing to extradite Mohammad Siyam Hussain, one of the main suspects in the brutal murder, to Kolkata. Hussain was arrested by Nepal Police on Friday and extradited to India.

A team of two officers from Bangladesh Police had traveled to Nepal to assist in the apprehension of the accused, who allegedly fled to Nepal after committing the crime.

The quest to find the missing MP has been ongoing since Gopal Biswas, a resident of Baranagar in north Kolkata and an acquaintance of Anar, filed a complaint with local police on May 18. Anar, who arrived in Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment, had been staying with Biswas. According to the complaint, Anar left Biswas' residence for a doctor's appointment on May 13 afternoon and was expected back home for dinner. However, his disappearance led Biswas to file a missing person report.
