In a tense encounter, a Bangladeshi smuggler was fatally shot by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura's Sepahijala district, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The skirmish began when BSF personnel noticed several armed individuals attempting to smuggle goods across the international boundary at Kalamchoura.
When confronted, the smugglers turned aggressive, prompting a BSF jawan to fire in self-defense. Despite the initial use of a non-lethal weapon, the conflict escalated, culminating in the death of one smuggler. A subsequent search recovered a large quantity of goods. The deceased was identified as a resident of Mirpur, Bangladesh.
