In a tragic turn of events, nine individuals lost their lives, and 33 others sustained injuries when a bus carrying pilgrims came under terrorist attack and subsequently plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Sunday evening.

The bus, en route from Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, was ambushed near Teryath village. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma, the terrorists opened fire around 6:15 pm, causing the driver to lose control of the 53-seater vehicle.

A comprehensive rescue operation ensued with authorities mobilizing forces and setting up a temporary operation headquarters at the site. Union Minister Amit Shah assured that those responsible would face the full wrath of the law.
