Lt Governor V K Saxena convened with Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday to address the acute water shortage plaguing the national capital. Saxena pledged to engage with the Haryana government to alleviate the supply issues and urged the ministers to desist from blame-shifting tactics.

The AAP government has accused BJP-ruled Haryana of withholding Delhi's water share during a period of unprecedented summer heat. Post-meeting, Minister Atishi confirmed Saxena's commitment to secure the release of the city's apportioned 1,050 cusecs of water in the Munak canal.

Saxena emphasized addressing water wastage due to leaks and theft, which could significantly mitigate the crisis. The meeting highlighted the operational challenges in Delhi’s water treatment plants and personnel shortages within the Delhi Jal Board.
