Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated on Tuesday that prominent Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is currently being probed by police regarding an alleged murder. The actor's connection to the case will be clarified post-investigation. Darshan was apprehended from a Mysuru hotel concerning the June 9 murder of Renuka Swamy in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru, as per police sources.

Authorities revealed that Swamy, an employee of a pharmacy company and originally from Chitradurga, was murdered and his body disposed of in a stormwater drain in Kamakshipalya. "A person from Chitradurga was murdered in Bengaluru. As part of the investigation, certain arrests have been made and Darshan's name has surfaced, prompting his questioning," Parameshwara informed reporters.

Despite arrests and initial questioning, Parameshwara emphasized that conclusions about Darshan's involvement cannot be made until investigations are complete. "The reasons behind the murder and Darshan's name surfacing will only become clear post-investigation," he added. The inquiry suggests that Swamy possibly made derogatory comments about a film actress on social media, sparking further controversy.

Responding to inquiries, Parameshwara confirmed, "Darshan was detained in Mysuru and brought to Bengaluru. He remains in police custody for interrogation."
