Bombay High Court Demands Progress in Govind Pansare Murder Case

The Bombay High Court has instructed Maharashtra's ATS to verify information from Govind Pansare's family regarding the motive behind his 2015 murder and file an affidavit by July 11. The court is pressing for progress in the case while the main culprits remain at large.

The Bombay High Court has mandated Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to meticulously verify details provided by Govind Pansare's family about the motive for his 2015 murder and submit a detailed affidavit by July 11.

Family members insist that the principal perpetrators are still unpunished. Advocate Abhay Nevgi informed Justices Ajey Gadkari and Neela Gokhale that there are suspicions linking the right-wing group Sanatan Sanstha to the crime, although the group denies this.

A special ATS team has been investigating since August 2022 following the family’s dissatisfaction with the previous CID investigation.

The case, involving the 2015 shooting of Pansare outside his Kolhapur home, initially saw 12 arrests, but the family maintains the true conspirators remain at large. The ATS is now required to reassess all evidence and report back to the court, with the next hearing scheduled for July 12.
