Akash, a 25-year-old Dalit man held on theft charges, died on Friday in a hospital after his condition worsened in custody. The victim's family has accused the police of having beaten him, leading to his demise.
As Akash's body was being taken for post-mortem, violence erupted with some people attacking police officers and vandalizing vehicles, Inspector General of Police (Agra zone) Deepak Kumar stated.
