Tragic Double Suicide in Delhi: Couple From Assam Found Dead

A 25-year-old woman, Jhumi Das, allegedly took her own life after finding her husband, Bhaskar Deka, hanging in their home in northeast Delhi's Shastri Park area. Both hailed from Assam and worked at Omaxe Mall. The reason behind the suicides is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched a probe.

In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old woman was found dead after reportedly taking her own life upon discovering her husband hanging in their residence located in northeast Delhi's Shastri Park area, police revealed on Saturday.

The couple, identified as Jhumi Das and Bhaskar Deka, both originally from Assam, worked at Omaxe Mall in Chandni Chowk—Das as a housekeeping staff member and Deka as a security guard. The bodies were discovered with Das found hanging under a water pipeline at Yamuna Khadar and Deka at their home early Saturday morning.

The police reported that Das had informed a friend via a phone call about her intention to take this extreme step after finding her husband dead. The reasons behind these tragic events remain unclear, although Deka left a suicide note written in Assamese expressing his love for his wife and regret over their move to Delhi. Investigations are ongoing as the police have informed the couple's family in Assam and launched a probe.
