The incident occurred on Saturday evening in Kasiadeeh village when a mob surrounded the CBI vehicles and heckled the officers. The local police dispatched force from the Rajauli police station after receiving a call for help.

The FIR filed by the local police cites charges of disrupting government work and assault. The CBI had registered an FIR regarding the UGC-NET 2024 paper leak on Thursday, following a reference from the Union education ministry.
