Fourth Mob Lynching in a Week Shocks West Bengal

In a disturbing sequence of events, Biswajit Manna, a resident of Hooghly district in West Bengal, was beaten to death by a mob, marking the fourth mob lynching in the state within a week, according to police sources.

The 28-year-old victim was identified as a resident of Naita Malpaharpur gram panchayat in the Tarakeswar area. Authorities have detained two persons in connection with the crime and have registered a suo moto case.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Manna was called by the accused, acquaintances of the family, late on Sunday. The accused allegedly attacked Manna over a loan repayment dispute. Despite efforts by his mother and daughter-in-law to rescue him, Manna succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
