Goa Police Suspended in Death of Labourer

Three Goa police personnel have been suspended following the death of 32-year-old labourer Kanhaiyakumar Mondal. Mondal was found dead after being apprehended and released for a petty offense. An inquiry has been initiated, and a case of murder has been registered against unidentified individuals.

Three personnel from the Goa police force have faced suspension in connection with the death of Kanhaiyakumar Mondal, a 32-year-old labourer. Mondal, originally from Bihar, was found deceased on the roadside in Loutolim, South Goa, shortly after being apprehended for a minor offense and then released.

Initial reports suggested that Mondal had been killed by a truck, but the post-mortem examination revealed the presence of four stab wounds on his abdomen and one on his neck. This indicated that he was already dead when the truck struck his body.

Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant suspended three officers, head constable Ravindra Naik and constables Ashwin Sawant and Pritesh Prabhu, after it was revealed they had failed to register Mondal's detention in the police diary before leaving him outside their jurisdiction. An investigation is underway, and a murder case has been lodged against unknown persons.
