Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth inaugurated the "GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS 2024)" at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata on July 10, 2024. This pioneering initiative aims to address challenges in shipyard operations and promote technological advancements through startups nurtured across India. Aligned with the Government of India's 'Make in India' and 'Start-up India' initiatives, GAINS 2024 encourages MSMEs and startups to innovate and develop solutions that enhance technological capabilities.
During the launch event, Raksha Rajya Mantri commended GRSE for its significant contributions to nation-building and highlighted the transformative potential of innovations like GAINS in bolstering India's defence capabilities. Emphasizing the importance of technological advancements, he reaffirmed the commitment to proactive maritime security and air defence strategies, leveraging indigenous technological innovations.

'GAINS' represents a national initiative aimed at harnessing the capabilities of MSMEs and startups to develop innovative solutions for the ship design and construction industry. The scheme seeks to leverage India's robust ecosystem of MSMEs and startups to address current and emerging challenges, promoting self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) in the defence sector.
