Notorious MS-13 Gang Leader Pleads Guilty to Multiple Murders in New York

A leader of an MS-13 gang clique in New York pleaded guilty Wednesday to racketeering and firearms charges in a grim case involving eight murders, including the 2016 killings of two high school girls. Alexi Saenz, 29, will face 40 to 70 years in prison after entering the plea in federal court in Central Islip.

Prosecutors dropped their intention to seek the death penalty earlier in the case. During the hearing, Saenz responded to questions through a Spanish interpreter but spoke little about his crimes, which include ordering or approving numerous killings and providing drugs to gang members.

Outside the courtroom, victims' families expressed mixed feelings, with some disappointed the death penalty was off the table, while others were relieved the trial would not proceed.
