Brazilian Judge Justice Antonio Herman Benjamin Visits India
Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud welcomed Brazilian judge Justice Antonio Herman Benjamin, who will soon become the Chief Justice of the Brazilian Supreme Court. Justice Benjamin, known for his contributions to environmental protection, visited India and Jammu and Kashmir, observing judicial proceedings and meeting legal professionals.

Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud on Thursday warmly welcomed Brazilian judge Justice Antonio Herman Benjamin, praising him as a “great friend of India”.
Set to assume the role of Chief Justice of the Brazilian Supreme Court in July, Justice Benjamin is visiting India and joined the CJI on the bench to observe judicial proceedings alongside two other Supreme Court judges.
“He is a great friend of India and will take charge on July 22 as the Chief Justice of Brazil's Supreme Court. We are delighted to have him here,” CJI Chandrachud stated while introducing him to those present in the courtroom.
Justice Chandrachud highlighted Justice Benjamin’s distinguished scholarship and significant contributions to environmental protection.
During his stay, Justice Benjamin also visited Jammu and Kashmir. He is noted for founding the Brazilian Consumer Law and Policy Institute and the Law for a Green Planet Institute.
