India's Push for Complete E-Office Implementation Across Government Bodies

The Indian government plans to implement e-office systems across all its attached, subordinate offices and autonomous bodies within 100 days, as part of the DARPG's agenda. Between 2019 and 2024, 94% of files and 95% of receipts have been managed electronically within the central secretariat, showcasing the success of the e-office platform.

In a significant move towards digital governance, the Indian government has decided to implement e-office systems across all its attached, subordinate offices and autonomous bodies within a 100-day timeframe. This decision is part of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG)'s ambitious agenda.

Highlighting the success of the existing e-office platform, the central secretariat has managed 94% of its files and 95% of its receipts electronically between 2019 and 2024. This remarkable achievement has paved the way for broader implementation.

Following extensive inter-ministerial consultations, 133 offices have been identified for this initiative. The guidelines, issued on June 24, 2024, outline a roadmap and technical modalities for implementation. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) will oversee this project, ensuring time-bound on-boarding and operational efficiency across all identified units.
