Israeli Military Admits Failures in Protecting Kibbutz Be'eri During Hamas Attack

On Thursday, the Israeli military disclosed the findings of its first investigation into security lapses during the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Kibbutz Be'eri, where over 100 residents were killed and 32 were taken hostage, 11 of whom remain in Gaza.

The probe revealed failures in readiness and response, noting the military's inability to protect the citizens and its lack of clear situational awareness until hours after the attack began.

Despite these shortcomings, the bravery of Be'eri’s residents and its rapid response team was commended. Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has called for a comprehensive state inquiry into the incident, including an investigation of himself and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
