Andhra Pradesh police have registered an 'attempt to murder' case against former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, two senior IPS officers, and two retired officials. The complaint, filed by TDP MLA K Raghurama Krishna Raju, alleges custodial torture and a criminal conspiracy against him.
Raju's complaint names senior IPS officers PV Sunil Kumar and PSR Sitaramanjaneyulu, retired police officer R Vijay Paul, and former Guntur Government General Hospital superintendent G Prabhavati as co-defendants. The charges date back to Raju's arrest in May 2021 amid the second wave of COVID-19.
Raju claims he was detained without due process and subjected to abuse despite recent heart surgery. He accuses the officials of falsifying medical reports and alleges attempts on his life for criticizing Jagan Mohan Reddy. The case has sparked controversy, especially as the Supreme Court had previously dismissed related proceedings.
