Activist Manoj Jarange has leveled serious accusations against the Maharashtra government, alleging deliberate delays in issuing Kunbi certificates to Marathas despite locating 57 lakh supportive documents in the state and 5,000 in Hyderabad. Speaking at a rally in Jalna, Jarange stated that he would not rest until the Maratha community secures a reservation under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) segment.
Tensions have escalated as OBC leaders oppose the state's measures to extend quota benefits to Marathas, fearing a reduction in their own benefits. 'The state government is conspiring to divide the community to undermine the Maratha movement,' Jarange claimed, reiterating his deadline of July 13 for the reservation to be granted.
Jarange criticized both current and past administrations, claiming they have consistently failed to provide an adequate share of quotas for Marathas. He also accused BJP leader Girish Mahajan and NCP minister Chhagan Bhujbal of engaging in divisive politics, highlighting incidents of friction between Marathas and OBCs. Despite the political turmoil, Jarange emphasized that his fight for reservations is genuine and not a prelude to entering politics.
