The Delhi High Court on Friday denied bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, accused of assaulting AAP Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal.

Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta dismissed the bail plea, emphasizing Kumar's significant influence and the potential for witness tampering or evidence manipulation if released. Kumar, currently in judicial custody, had allegedly assaulted Maliwal on May 13 at the Chief Minister's official residence.

The court noted that while Kumar claimed the allegations were false, the accusations from a dignified political figure like Maliwal could not be dismissed. The selective handling of crucial evidence, like portions of CCTV footage and the suspicious formatting of Kumar's mobile phone, further supported the court's decision to deny bail.
