A tragic altercation over a land dispute led to the death of a couple and serious injuries to two others in Jharkhand's Khunti district on Friday evening, according to police officials.

The incident unfolded in Jhora Toli village, under the jurisdiction of Rania police station. Around the time of the attack, Sukra Mallah was cooking chicken in his courtyard when his cousin, Luto Mallah, allegedly assaulted him with a bamboo stick and a sharp weapon, inflicting fatal injuries.

Sukra's wife was also killed as she tried to intervene, while his mother and son were injured in an attempt to stop Luto. The accused has been apprehended, and initial investigations suggest that a longstanding familial dispute over land was the motive behind the attack.
