Tragedy in Andhra Pradesh: Search Continues for Young Rape Victim

Andhra Pradesh police are intensively searching for the body of a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and pushed into a canal by three minor boys, an official reported on Saturday.

The tragic incident occurred on the evening of July 7, when the young girl, last seen playing in a park, was allegedly gang-raped by the boys before being pushed into the Mucchumarri Lift Irrigation Canal in Nandyal district.

'We are yet to trace the girl's body. We are still searching. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are involved as well,' the official told PTI.

Authorities stated that up to 70 NDRF and SDRF personnel are collaborating in the search for the girl's body. A senior official confirmed that the three boys have confessed to the crime, but emphasized the importance of recovering the body for a conviction.

Additional police investigation teams have been deployed to expedite the case while technical data is being analyzed to verify if others were involved. The accused minors, two aged 15 and one aged 12, are all residents of the same Mucchumarri village.
