The Kerala High Court has mandated the Transport Commissioner and the State Police Chief to take stringent action against motor vehicles flouting road safety, noise, and air pollution norms. Such violations must be curbed to ensure public safety.
The directive was issued by a bench comprising Justices Anil K Narendran and Harisankar V Menon, in response to a court's suo motu plea highlighting the unlawful use of contract and stage carriages in public spaces.
The bench remarked that unauthorized modifications, recording and uploading of videos inside moving vehicles, and other such violations endanger the safety of both passengers and other road users. The court emphasized that vehicles not adhering to these safety standards must be banned from public roads, with stern action to follow.
