The Karnataka State Board of Auqaf has lodged a police complaint against its former chief executive officer, Zulfiqarulla, for allegedly misappropriating Rs 4 crore of the board’s funds.

Meer Ahmed Abbas, the incumbent CEO, claims that this illegal transfer has caused a loss of Rs 8.03 crore to the state exchequer, accounting for potential compound interest over eight years.

Abbas also stated that the transfer was not disclosed to the Wakf Board, prompting the board to file a formal complaint after an unsatisfactory response from Zulfiqarulla on March 31, 2022. The legal action coincides with another high-profile financial scandal involving the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation.
