Delhi Police has rescued a 14-year-old girl from a flesh trade operation and arrested a woman, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The victim, an orphan from Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor, had come to the national capital in search of work, officials added.
Acting on a tipoff received on July 12, police conducted a raid at a brothel on Shradhanand Marg near Ajmeri Gate, according to a senior police officer. The operation, which included police officers and NGO members, discovered the minor girl in the custody of a woman named Anjali (42). The victim was subsequently rescued and taken to a children's shelter, while Anjali was apprehended. ''She revealed that the girl was brought to Ajmeri Gate by one Anas from Zakir Nagar in Okhla,'' the officer stated.
The investigation has revealed that the orphaned girl came to Delhi seeking employment, the officer concluded.
