Traces of cyanide have been discovered in the coffee of six individuals found dead at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Bangkok, according to the chief of the Thai police forensic division. The victims, identified as two Vietnamese Americans and four Vietnamese nationals, were found on Tuesday with no other visitors recorded in their room.
Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang, Bangkok police chief, revealed that financial disputes might be the motive behind the deaths. Information from relatives indicated that a husband and wife were dissatisfied with how their money was invested by one of the victims.
Both the Vietnamese and U.S. embassies have been notified, and the FBI is now aiding in the investigation. Authorities have ruled out mass suicide, noting that the victims had made various arrangements for their trip and were found in separate locations within the hotel room.
