Masked Thieves Make Away with Lakhs Worth of Jewelry in Bilaspur Heist

Unidentified perpetrators stole gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 24 lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash from a jewellery shop owned by Damodar Gupta in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district. The heist occurred when the family was away attending an engagement. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the culprits.

In a brazen heist, unidentified individuals stole gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs 24 lakh along with Rs 50,000 in cash from a jewellery shop in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, according to police reports.

The incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday at the shop owned by Damodar Gupta, which is situated directly opposite his residence in Sipat town, said an official.

Gupta and his family were attending his nephew's engagement function in Bilaspur city when the crime took place. Upon returning, Gupta noticed masked individuals near his shop who threw stones at his car before fleeing the scene, the official added.

Upon inspection, Gupta discovered that 150 gm of gold and 22 kg of silver ornaments, in addition to Rs 50,000 in cash, were missing. Police have registered a case and are actively working to nab the culprits.
