China's Communist Party has accepted the resignation of former foreign minister Qin Gang from its Central Committee, Xinhua reported. This decision was made during a significant meeting of the party's top-level executive body.

In a related development, the Central Committee expelled former defence minister Li Shangfu and former PLA Rocket Force commander Li Yuchao for 'serious violations of discipline and law,' a term often associated with corruption.

Last month, Li Shangfu was removed from the Communist Party on bribery charges, as China's People's Liberation Army goes through an extensive anti-corruption purge implicating two former defence ministers and top generals. Qin was dismissed as foreign minister last July and has not appeared in public since. Li was ousted as defence minister last October with no explanation, later being investigated for graft.
