28 Rescued from Flooded Fields in Bhadradri-Kothagudem

Disaster management teams rescued 28 people stranded in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district's flooded agricultural lands using helicopters. The rescue effort, involving NDRF and state personnel, aimed to relocate 20 more individuals. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari emphasized the priority of saving lives, following directives from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Disaster management personnel on Thursday rescued 28 people who were stranded in agricultural lands, using two helicopters in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, due to flooding from a rivulet following heavy rains.

The process of relocating 20 more people to safe places continued on Thursday night, according to an official release.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, along with state government personnel, were involved in relief and rehabilitation efforts, the release stated.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari conducted a teleconference with the district Collector, SP, and senior officials from the irrigation department regarding the relief measures for farmers trapped by flooding from the rivulet Peddavagu.

During the teleconference, the Chief Secretary conveyed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's directive that there should be no loss of life under any circumstances.

The district Collector confirmed that the 28 people stranded in agricultural lands were rescued by revenue and disaster management teams, using two helicopters.

The Collector also indicated that efforts to relocate people from various villages to relief camps would persist.

The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of saving lives and the government's readiness to provide any necessary assistance from Hyderabad for relief operations.

DGP Jitender stated that the police force has been instructed to participate in relief efforts due to the heavy rainfall and flooding.
