Deadly Drone Attack Strikes Tel Aviv Amid Gaza War Tensions

A long-range Iranian-made drone struck the center of Tel Aviv early Friday, killing one person and wounding four others, according to Israeli military and emergency services. The Yemen-based Houthi militia claimed responsibility for the attack.

The explosion, which seemingly originated from the sea and did not trigger air raid alarms, occurred shortly after Israel confirmed it had killed a senior Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon. Military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari identified the drone as an upgraded Samad-3 model, likely launched from Yemen.

Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree declared that Tel Aviv remains a primary target and pledged continued attacks in solidarity with Palestinians. The strike coincided with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's impending visit to Washington. Defence Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized readiness for all scenarios, while the military investigates why the alarms failed to sound.
