Justice knows no bias, and even the weak may prevail over the strong with its help, the Supreme Court said on Friday while addressing a land dispute.

The apex court highlighted how power structures in society often lead to the exploitation of the weak by those with greater power.

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah remarked, ''Land ownership is one such arena where the swords of powerplay are sharpened with continued fraud, deceit, and greed.''

This statement came while addressing a land dispute case in Thane district, Maharashtra.

''Justice knows no bias and thus, through its aid, even the weak may prevail over the strong,'' the court reiterated. The case exemplifies the suffering of common people due to vendors with mal-intentions, using manipulation or force to gain double benefits.

The court noted that extended legal battles often deepen the litigants' misery. In such instances, the law supports the weak. ''We are not just mechanically analyzing contentious transactions but also restoring public trust in the legal system and ensuring no one benefits from their wrongdoing,'' the bench emphasized.
