CBI Challenges Indrani Mukerjea's Travel to Europe
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has approached the Bombay High Court challenging a special court's decision that allowed Indrani Mukerjea, accused in the 2012 murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, to travel to Europe. The CBI claims the decision is legally flawed and fears she may flee justice.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved the Bombay High Court against a special court's order allowing former media executive Indrani Mukerjea to travel to Europe. Mukerjea is accused of the 2012 murder of her daughter Sheena Bora and is currently out on bail.
A special CBI court permitted her to visit Spain and the United Kingdom for 10 days within the next three months. However, the CBI argues that the decision is arbitrary and legally unfounded, noting that Mukerjea is facing serious charges.
If allowed to leave the country, the CBI contends, there is a risk she could evade justice. The agency is expected to seek an urgent hearing. The court has mandated that Mukerjea report to the Indian Embassy or allied missions during her trip and submit a security deposit of Rs 2 lakh.
