Three alleged drug smugglers were arrested in Amritsar with significant quantities of methamphetamine, heroin, and pseudoephedrine, police said Saturday.
According to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, Gurbax alias Lala, considered a 'big fish' in sourcing precursor chemicals for drugs, was among those arrested. Lala earned commissions for each consignment and played a vital role in enhancing the potency of drugs.
Two others, Daljit Kaur and Arshdeep, both residents of Chheharta, were also apprehended. Lala and Arshdeep have criminal records and were out on bail at the time of their arrest.
Daljit Kaur's arrest led to the unraveling of their network. She was caught with 50 grams of heroin, which led to Arshdeep's arrest with 200 grams of heroin. The investigation pointed to Lala, who was caught after a four-day operation with substantial drug quantities.
