In an alarming incident in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, one person was apprehended after two women were partially buried under murrum tipped from a truck while protesting against road construction, police confirmed on Sunday.
According to authorities, the incident, deemed a result of a family dispute, unfolded in Hinota Jorot village under Mangawa police station on Saturday. A video circulating on social media reveals the two women sitting behind a truck, which proceeded to off-load the reddish clayey material on them.
Additional Superintendent of Police Vivek Lal identified the protestors as Mamta Pandey and Asha Pandey. The police are actively investigating the event, with further actions pending based on collected evidence. ADG (Law and Order) Jaideep Prasad echoed that the root cause was a familial land dispute.
