Government Allocates Rs 951 Crore to CBI in Budget 2024-25
The Centre has allocated over Rs 951 crore to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the 2024-25 fiscal year. The budget shows a slight decrease from the Rs 968.86 crore allocated in the Revised Budget Estimates for 2023-24. The funds will cover establishment-related expenditures and various modernization projects.
The Centre has earmarked Rs 951 crore for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Budget for 2024-25, unveiled on Tuesday. This marks a modest reduction of approximately 1.79 per cent as compared to the Rs 968.86 crore allocated in the previous fiscal’s Revised Budget Estimates.
The allocation, as presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is intended to cover the agency's establishment-related expenses. The CBI is tasked with investigating and prosecuting corruption cases involving public servants, private individuals, and companies, along with other severe criminal cases.
The budget also includes funding for the modernization of CBI training centres, establishing technical and forensic support units, and comprehensive upgrades, such as the purchase of land and the construction of office and residential buildings for the agency.
