Former PM Imran Khan Rejects Polygraph Test Amidst Ongoing Inquiries

Jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan refused to undergo polygraph and voice matching tests as part of an investigation by Lahore police. The tests were related to the May 9, 2023 riots following his arrest. Khan, facing over 200 cases, denied ordering vandalism but admitted to calling for peaceful protests.

Jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday refused to undergo polygraph and voice matching tests, part of an investigation launched by Lahore police in connection with last year's unprecedented violence in the country.

A 12-member forensic team reached Adiala Jail to conduct the polygraph test on the 71-year-old Khan, who faces over 200 cases and has been in jail since August last year.

The May 9, 2023 riots erupted nationwide after Khan was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The Lahore police team, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, arrived at the prison premises accompanied by experts from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA).

The PFSA experts intended to perform polygraph, voice matching, and photogrammetry tests on the former prime minister, but Khan refused after answering police questions for 15 minutes. He stated he would comply after completing his current investigations.

During the May 9 protests, alleged PTI workers attacked military installations. Authorities have since cracked down on PTI, holding numerous trials in military courts. Civil and military authorities accuse Khan of planning the violence, a claim he denies.

Khan, imprisoned at Adiala Jail for almost a year, was arrested on August 5, 2022, following his conviction in the Toshakhana corruption case. Despite securing bail or having his convictions set aside, he remains incarcerated for other cases.
